G.O.A.L.S.

Global Awareness: I’ve had the opportunity to recently join the Fisher Global Consulting Cohort and serve as a Global Consultant for Ayming, a management consulting company based in France. This opportunity has allowed me gain work experience with my desired field post-graduation, consulting, while simultaneously interacting with cliental that vary from what i’m familiar with.

Original Inquiry: During my time at OSU, I’ve had the opportunity to take a drawing 1 course, which is outside of my normal curriculum. Within the class, I put together a portfolio of graphite and charcoal drawings. With my father going to art school for undergrad, I was surrounded by artwork since a young age. However, when school became more serious, my time producing artwork was minimized. This time was an awesome way to reconnect with my roots and produce a creative project.

Academic Enrichment: Following undergad, I plan to pursue my Master of Health Administration and work in hospital management or healthcare consulting. Studying Health Information Management and Systems currently, I couldn’t think of a more perfect major. My curriculum covers, clinical science, information technology, and business, all skills I will need within my desired field.

Leadership Development: I currently serve as the Alumni Advancement and Relations Committee Chair for the Mount Leadership Society Scholars Program. Communicating with an alumni/donor network consistently to put on alumni-related events at Ohio State, I’ve been able to practice my written and oral communication. Additionally, leading a committee of 25 students, I’ve been able to practice the skills of active listening, public speaking, and candid communication.

Service Engagement: My proudest service engagement is volunteering with the Muscular Dystrophy Association as a caregiver/camp counselor. My main responsibilities are putting on summer camps for children born with Muscular Dystrophy diseases to allow an opportunity to partake in activities they may not have regular access to.

Artifact #1 – Guitar

When quarantine begun, all my priorities suddenly changed. My daily responsibilities were either minimized or completely vanished. Therefore, I was given endless free time that I was unsure what to do with. I’m thankful for this free time as it allowed my creativity to be reopened. Being a big fan of multiple rock bands, I decided to learn how to play guitar.

I’m still not very good and very much so a beginner. However, this experience has shown me the importance of curiosity and a continuous willingness to learn. As college students, we often get caught up in our daily responsibilities and struggle to prioritize hobbies over these responsibilities. I encourage others to try something new, take an unfamiliar step, and prioritize hobbies that may not be deemed “important.
