PHA Deadline Changes for Newly Benefits-Eligible Faculty and Staff

Outlined below are the Personal Health and Well-being Assessment (PHA) deadlines for newly benefits-eligible faculty and staff, which includes new hires. These deadlines cover three plan years: 2015, 2016 and 2017.

While the PHA may not be required for medical plan choice, newly eligible faculty and staff must complete the PHA and biometric screening to receive the $360 annual premium credit with an Ohio State medical plan. Please note that the YP4H portal will be closed Dec. 7, 2015, to Jan. 3, 2016. No assessments can be completed during that time.

What you need to do:

  • During your onboarding process, please continue to encourage early engagement in the PHA and biometric screening so that newly eligible faculty and staff may earn the premium credit and Your Plan for Health incentives.
  • Make newly benefits-eligible faculty and staff aware of the annual September 30 deadline to maintain medical plan choice, and clarify that though it is not required this year, it will be required for them the following year.
  • All benefits-eligible faculty/staff are encouraged to complete the PHA and biometric screening even if not electing university health coverage to ensure medical plan choice at a later date.

Revised Sexual Misconduct Policy Effective September 1

Effective September 1, in interim status, the Sexual Misconduct, Sexual Harassment, and Relationship Violence policy will serve as a unified campus policy. It will replace the current Sexual Harassment policy. This policy will apply to the entire Ohio State community, including faculty, staff, students, student employees, graduate associates, appointees, volunteers, vendors and visitors. In addition to broadening the scope to all sexual misconduct, the policy provides appropriate guidance for handling allegations. It also provides additional definitions, details and  xpanded reporting requirements for employees, as well as contact information.

Professional Development Grant Applications Accepted Until August 31

The Office of Human Resources, in partnership with USAC, have two opportunities for staff and managers to apply for professional development grants. The Staff Career Development Grant provides staff with an opportunity to further their growth and development. Eligible staff can apply for a grant of up to $1,000 for individuals and $1,500 for groups to use for professional development, education or training costs related to job and/or career goals. Applications can be submitted via mail to the Office of Human Resources or via email to hr-staffgrant@osu.edu. The application period is August 3-31, 2015. The Staff Manager Development Grant provides managers with an opportunity to enhance their management and leadership skills. Eligible staff can apply for a grant to fund participation in management workshops, programs or conferences held at The Ohio State University. Applications can be submitted via email to the Office of Human Resources or via email to hr-managergrant@osu.edu.
