Winter Party

To celebrate the semester ending come join us for wintry crafts like decorating ornaments and snowflake making! We will also have a hot chocolate bar following our last community meeting.

Intramurals: Basketball

“Humanities Intramural sports is a great way to meet other scholars from different grade levels and majors. Regardless of skill or previous experience, all humanities scholars are welcome! We alternate sports all year round and hope to see you out there!” -Greg

(The Humanities Manatees may not have the most wins but we have the most fun. Also join us for flag football, softball, soccer. etc.)

BuckeyeThon

BuckeyeThon was such an amazing experience I can’t suggest enough that you try it at least once. As the largest student run philanthropy in Ohio, we raised $1,603,437.49 for the kids at Nationwide last year. While making the $250 to attend the Dance Marathon seemed daunting, the sense of accomplishment and feeling of being a part of something larger than myself was so rewarding when I finally reached my goal. Meeting the families and seeing them run down the red carpet was moving. Plus, I had an absolute blast doing silent disco, gaga ball, raving, limbo, tutu making, giant Jenga, and more. Go Humanities Manatees & the Yellow Team!

Our Grad Assistant

Guys, we have the best grad assistant and her name is Alex! Alex came to us from William & Mary University in Virginia and is now studying Higher Education because she wants to promote diversity in the admissions office. We share Alex with the Arts Scholars, but otherwise we are the only Scholars at OSU with a grad assistant. We love having her as she is so nice and always available to talk. Say hi, stop by her office, or catch her & Ben at “lunch with Ben & Alex.”

Night at the Movies

Everyone get their popcorn ready. It’s movie time.
Give yourself a reprieve before the dreaded finals week begins and come join the Humanities Scholars for a free movie this Thursday night, Dec. 6.
The movie could be a horror and make those finals seem like a piece of cake. It could be a comedy and lighten the mood entering the week. Or, it could be just a plain old action movie where you can shut your brain off for two hours. The best part is, that hasn’t been decided!
You have to come to end of the year meeting on Dec. 5 to help choose what will be shown!
So whether you want to sit in suspense, or just laugh until your side hurts, make sure you are there to help decide!

Treat the Hungry

This is our signature fall service project where volunteers dress up and “trick-or-treat” for canned goods in a local neighborhood. All items collected will be donated to the Mid-Ohio Food Bank, and it’s a lot of fun!

Explore Columbus

This year we explored Ohio Indian Caverns, picked pumpkins at Leed’s Farm, and saw animals at the Columbus Zoo!

The year before we went to the Franklin Park Conservatory, German Village Book Loft, Katzinger’s Deli, and Circle S Farms for pumpkin picking.

Join us to see where we’ll go next year!
