Congrats Judith!

Judith successfully defended her MS thesis “Impact of water quality on UV disinfection of indigenous spores in surface, flocculated, and softened water from a drinking water treatment plant” and graduated from TU Delft!

Dan and Yijing at AEESP 2023

At the AEESP conference in Boston, there were two poster presentations from our group!

Dan presented “Optimizing microorganism inactivation, repair inhibition, and electrical efficiency of multi-wavelength and alternative-energy UV”

Yijing presented “Impacts of different UV wavelengths on antibiotic resistant bacteria and their genes collected from wastewater” and spent time with colleagues.

Summer Water TEAM lunch, and some big changes

We had a great Water TEAM lunch in the Bolz conference room with tons of natural light to celebrate the summer season!

We welcomed new PhD student Amanda Stickney who will be co-advised by Dr. Karen Dannemiller and is a student in the ESGP program.

We were also celebrating bittersweet changes to the lab:  Dr. Hull is moving to Boise State University where she will be a Clinical Assistant Professor starting Fall 2023. Dr. Hull will remain an adjunct assistant professor role at Ohio State until all students graduate and funded projects are completed. Although Ohio State has been a wonderful University and the Civil, Environmental, and Geodetic Engineering department and the Sustainability Institute have been a great fit, Dr. Hull couldn’t resist the call of the mountains out West. To commemorate, Dr. Hull and PhD students took one last group photo outside Hitchcock Hall!

Dan and Judith present at Borchardt conference

Dan and Judith presented their work last week at the 26th Triennial Borchardt Conference: Symposium On Advancements In Water & Wastewater hosted at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, MI.

Dan gave a talk titled “Sequential Wavelength and Hydropowered UV Disinfection”.

Judith presented a poster titled “Evaluating water quality parameters to improve wastewater-based epidemiology”.

Great work Dan and Judith!
