Year in Review
[ “Year in Review” is where you should reflect on the past year and show how you have evolved as a person and as a student. You may want to focus on your growth in a particular area (as a leader, scholar, researcher, etc.) or you may want to talk about your overall experience over the past year. For more guidance on using your ePortfolio, including questions and prompts that will help you get started, please visit the Honors & Scholars ePortfolio course in Carmen. To get answers to specific questions, please email eportfolio@osu.edu. Delete these instructions and add your own post.]

- Academic Enrichment: In my classes, I plan to put forth my best effort possible in an attempt to get the best GPA possible.
- Leadership Development: In the future, I hope to join more organizations and take a leadership position of some kind to start making my own impact on the campus of tOSU.
- Service Engagement: I hope to continue finding opportunities to give back to others through various organizations as well as in a everyday interactions.

This is a photo from my first service trip at one of the orphanages that we work with. In the photo is a little girl named Elida who had a huge impact on me and who I still think about regularly even though she left the home a few years ago.

This is a photo of my parents and I and this photo means a great deal to me because this was my last season before my injury forced me to quit. All my life, taught me discipline as well as many life lessons. Also, my parents being there reminded me how blessed I was to have them support me emotionally and financially through school, soccer and health issues which shows how lucky I am to have them.
The picture above is a picture of Thompson Library. I did not take any advantage of Thompson my first semester. However, I have spent a significant amount of time there in my second and third semester because thats where I noticed I focused best. The reason I chose this picture is to demonstrate that I have reoriented my focus to have a greater emphasis on my education as that is the most important thing at Ohio State.
About Me
My name is Derek Huddleston and I am currently enrolled as a first year student at The Ohio State University. As of right now, I am currently undecided in the field of business and I graduated from St. John’s Jesuit in Toledo. There, I played soccer for four years, went on a mission trip to Paraguay to build a court, started a club, participated in Mr. NDA and made many memories as well as friends. Academically, I was involved in the National Honor Society and Spanish National Honor Society. Outside of school, I have been very involved in service to the community in my area and beyond. Locally, I had been involved in various programs designed for feeding and supplying those who were not capable of doing so themselves. For a period of time, I was also involved with Sunshine Children’s Home where I taught a group of young adults who were a part of that program. On a global scale, I have also been on two service trips to Guatemala where our team would travel around the country and provide assistance to a number of different schools, orphanages, and communities.
