The International Drainage Hall of Fame Award seeks to recognize individuals who have made significant contributions to the development and use of drainage in agricultural production. Persons eligible for nomination include those who have provided extensive service to the science, art, engineering, and/or practice of agricultural drainage and water management in any of the following areas: teaching, Extension education, research, technology development, consulting, contractor training, implementation and practice, and/or leadership in the agricultural drainage industry at state, national, and/or international levels.
The International Drainage Hall of Fame was established in 1979 in honor of the late Professor Virgil Overholt, who dedicated 42 years to education and research on agricultural drainage in Ohio, USA. The award is administered by the International Program for Water Management in Agriculture in the Department of Food, Agricultural and Biological Engineering at The Ohio State University, Columbus, OH (USA).
Nomination Process:
Candidates may be nominated through completion of a nomination form that will demonstrate evidence of the candidate’s suitability to receive the Award, including professional accomplishments, public service, publications, and major activities and contributions. Posthumous nominations (no more than two years after the individual’s death) will be accepted. All nominations will be reviewed by the Jury for the International Drainage Hall of Fame. Nomination package must be prepared according to the instructions in the Nomination Form.
