Dear students within the health professions colleges of The Ohio State University,
Buckeyes Without Borders is an organization within the College of Pharmacy who organizes a medical brigade to Santa Lucia, Honduras every spring break. We are currently accepting student applications for the March 2019 trip. We invite you to apply to join our interdisciplinary team who will see patients in rural villages of Santa Lucia, Honduras. In the past our brigade has included pharmacy students, medical students, social work students, and physical and occupation therapy students, however we welcome other professions to apply because we are always looking for ways to better serve our patients in Honduras. Interested candidates should apply to the google form below, no later than October 28, 2018 at midnight. Any questions or concerns about the application or trip can be directed to our Honduras Trip Chair, Stephanie Brokaw, email at email@example.com or text at 419-565-5122.
On Thursday, October 18, 2018 there will be two information sessions for students interested in taking part in the 2019 Canadian Parliament Internship Program.
The info sessions will be held in 2130 Derby Hall at 10 AM and at 3 PM. Present will be Dr. James Baker, who coordinates the program, several past alumni of the program, and Rebecca McMunn from OIA to answer questions about study abroad.
As the alumni will attest, this is a wonderful opportunity for students desiring an internship. The offices of members of the Canadian Parliament operate a bit differently than offices for members of the U.S. Congress. Students that have gone to Ottawa have found that they are often one of only four people working in the office, including the legislator him/herself. This provides a more fulfilling experience than a D.C. internship where you are often one of 25-30 office workers and may never get to see, let alone meet the member of Congress.
The 2019 interns will arrive in Ottawa, Canada on Saturday May 11, and the last day to work is Friday June 14.
Participants are required to enroll in Political Science 4270 (The Canadian Political System) during spring semester 2019 [T/R 3:55-5:15; class # 22707). NOTE: If students have already taken Poli Sci 4270, you’re good to go!
Students will receive 3 credit hours of POLITSC 4191 during May Session, 2019, for their internship experience. Participants will pay OSU tuition for 3 credit hours of POLITSC 4191 plus the program fee ($2434).
This program is open to ALL MAJORS!
