Leadership

One example of leadership that I have witnessed would be Paul Pogba, the captain of the French National Team, during the 2018 World Cup. Before the World Cup Final, Pogba gathered everyone on the team in the locker room and pumped up every player individually- even the substitutes by telling them he trusts them and knows everyone will try their hardest.

This is the epitome of leadership because Paul Pogba stepped up to speak infront of very nervous players, coming of a 2016 Eruo Final loss, and told them how they can support the team during this game. Pogba’s speech shows that he is a great leader because he was not afraid and had the courage to demand more of himself, his fellow teammates, and even his coach.

France ended up beating Croatia 4-2 to win the 2018 World Cup.

About Me

Hi! My name is Jeffrey Hower II, and I am going into my first year as an Ohio State Scholars Student. I am an athletic training major with intrest in pre-med and pre-physical therapy. I want to work in a position that allows me to help people in need. I am a Dunn Sports and Wellness Scholar (DSWS) and participate in anything related to sports. Sports have played an important role in my life. Since I am in DSWS, I live in Morrill Tower surrounded by great people who I enjoy hanging out with. In high school I played soccer and tennis, which I will continue in college through fun casual pickup games.

Off the field, I very much enjoy food, traveling, and snowboarding. My favorite restaurants include Cane’s, Chipotle, and Fire House Subs. Even though those resturants are pretty mainstream, I love trying new foods and hope I can go around the world experiencing different tastes and cultures. Some of my favorite places to travel with family and friends is DisneyWorld in Orlando, Florida and Alaska. Growing up, my family took an annual road trip to Montana to visit my grandparents. The three days, consisting of eight hours of driving each, allowed my two brothers, my parents, and I to grow as a family while we stopped at many road side attractions. Starting in sophomore year of high school, I joined the ski club and learned to snowboard. I loved going to New York and shredding down the hill.

My home town is Rocky River, OH, a suburb of Cleveland, and I visit Columbus regularly to visit family. Both of my parents (Marci & Jeff), my dad being an OSU alum, run their own business which my dad started from scratch. Ohio Geese Control is my parents’ fourth child, and I couldn’t be prouder of what it has become. I have two younger brothers, Jake and James, and three super smart border collies, all of us form the much loved Hower family!

I am ready for my first year at The Ohio State University and all the opportunities that are here for me!
