Hospitality Management Program Scholarship & Awards Application

All recognition awards are based upon the following criteria: 

  • Current students actively engaged in hospitality industry-supported activities through the Hospitality Management Program (i.e. – Signature Events, Speed Networking, etc.). 
  • Minimum GPA requirement: 2.5
  • Demonstrates Leadership
  • See individual award criteria for specific recognition awards
  • Priority is given to students majoring in Hospitality Management. 
  • Deadline: March 29, 2024


Hospitality Management Program Awards: 

Graduating seniors and those enrolled in the 2024-2025 academic year are eligible to apply for Recognition Awards.  Please note, these are recognition awards and not monetary awards.  Students that are looking for monetary support should apply for scholarships. 

Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Award  

The Diversity, Equity and Inclusion award honors students of who have contributed through exemplary and sustained leadership the ideals of diversity, equity, inclusion, and community engagement. Nominees for this award should demonstrate outstanding achievements and contributions in the community both within campus and beyond. Nominees should be dedicated agents of change, advocating for and impacting the lives of individuals from marginalized or minoritized groups.

In addition, nominees should have demonstrated one or more of the following criteria:

  • Broken historical barriers as pioneers in program, on campus, and/or in the hospitality industry
  • Recognized as a transformative figure in our campus community and/or hospitality industry.
  • Displays personal courageousness or altruism so remarkable as to set the person apart from others across our community and/or hospitality industry.
  • Exhibits innovative and insightful leadership that challenges major societal inequities through avenues such as strategic decision-making, allocation of resources, and establishment of priorities.
  • Makes a significant and sustained contribution in advancing diversity and inclusion
  • Implements effective and highly recognized strategies that address barriers that often exclude or disadvantage historically underrepresented groups.
  • Recognized as a significant change agent in promoting important humanitarian causes and championing human rights in our campus community and/or hospitality industry

Hospitality Management Industry Collaboration Award

The Hospitality Management Industry Collaboration Award recognizes students that display the ability to well-balanced gaining experience in the field during their time studying.  Applicants should display:

  • Excellence in their work experience(s) in hospitality
  • A sustained commitment towards gaining valuable experience directly in the hospitality industry while also achieving academic classroom success

Hospitality Leadership Award

The Hospitality Management Program Leadership Award recognizes one or more students with displayed leadership abilities.  Recipients should display an active leadership role within the Hospitality Management Program in leading and organizing other students in a productive and cohesive manner.

Applicants should display:

  • Servant leadership, which prioritizes serving the greater good
  • Authenticity, Self-Awareness, Open-mindedness and creativity
  • Flexibility, Responsibility and Dependability
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities both within and outside of academia (with or without a title)


Hospitality Management Program Travel Awards:

Our Hospitality Management Program offers many fantastic professional and academic developmental opportunities in Columbus and beyond.  Travel awards support students that are selected for excursions outside of Columbus, OH.  Awards can take place as monetary awards and/or covering expenses such as airfare, lodging, etc. for group travel organized by our Hospitality Management Program.


Scholarships:

We are able to offer a variety of scholarships thanks to generous support of our industry partners and the College of Education and Human Ecology.  Scholarships will follow all guidelines and deadlines as listed on The College of Education and Human Ecology’s Financial Aid and Scholarship website.
