All recognition awards are based upon the following criteria:
- Current students actively engaged in hospitality industry-supported activities through the Hospitality Management Program (i.e. – Signature Events, Speed Networking, etc.).
- Minimum GPA requirement: 2.5
- Demonstrates Leadership
- See individual award criteria for specific recognition awards
- Priority is given to students majoring in Hospitality Management.

Hospitality Management Program Awards:
Graduating seniors and those enrolled in the 2026-2027 academic year are eligible to apply for Recognition Awards. Please note, these are recognition awards and not monetary awards. Students that are looking for monetary support should apply for scholarships.
Community Impact and Belonging Award
The Community Impact and Belonging Award recognizes students who have demonstrated a strong commitment to fostering welcoming environments, strengthening connections among peers, and making a meaningful difference in their campus and local communities.
Nominees for this award should exemplify dedication to creating inclusive spaces, supporting others, and helping ensure that all individuals feel valued and engaged.
In addition, nominees should have demonstrated one or more of the following:
- Played an active role in initiatives or programs that create a welcoming and supportive environment.
- Helped increase access to opportunities or meaningful participation in campus or community activities.
- Recognized for making a positive impact in their campus community, program, or field of study.
- Demonstrated empathy and support for individuals or groups who have faced challenges.
- Contributed to efforts that promote fairness, opportunity, and meaningful engagement.
- Shown a strong commitment to uplifting others and fostering a culture of respect and connection.
Hospitality Management Industry Collaboration Award
The Hospitality Management Industry Collaboration Award recognizes students who have successfully balanced gaining hands-on experience in the hospitality industry while pursuing their academic studies. This award honors students who demonstrate a strong commitment to professional growth and applied their learning in hospitality.
Applicants should demonstrate:
- Excellence in their hospitality work experience(s) through dedication, skill development, and professional growth.
- A sustained commitment to gaining valuable industry experience while also excelling in their academic coursework.
Hospitality Leadership Award
The Hospitality Leadership Award recognizes one or more students who have demonstrated strong leadership within the Hospitality Management Program. Recipients of this award have played an active role in leading and organizing their peers in a productive and cohesive manner.
Applicants should demonstrate:
- Servant leadership, prioritizing the greater good and supporting others.
- Authenticity, self-awareness, open-mindedness, and creativity in their leadership approach.
- Flexibility, responsibility, and dependability in working with others.
- Demonstrated leadership abilities within and beyond academic settings, whether through formal or informal roles.
Hospitality Management Program Travel Awards:
Our Hospitality Management Program provides exceptional professional and academic development opportunities both in Columbus and beyond. Travel awards support students selected for excursions outside of Columbus, OH, covering expenses such as airfare, lodging, and other travel-related costs for group trips organized by the program.
Scholarships:
We are able to offer a variety of scholarships thanks to generous support of our industry partners and the College of Education and Human Ecology. Scholarships will follow all guidelines and deadlines as listed on The College of Education and Human Ecology’s Financial Aid and Scholarship website.
