Artifacts Project

My playlist:

  1. Holding On to You – twenty one pilots
  2. Please – Little Green Cars
  3. Deadwater – Wet
  4. A Car, A Torch, A Death – twenty one pilots
  5. Me – The 1975
  6. Ride – twenty one pilots
  7. Australia – The Shins
  8. Pursuit of Happiness – Kid Kudi

All of these songs represent a journey and a struggle within myself. “Holding On to You” represents a fight with depression, as does “A Car, A Torch, A Death.” The songs focus on depression and the fight for oneself  (or a way someone else can help another person fight so they are not overcome by depression). “Please” has a line that says, “Please believe my lies,” and I put this song in my collection because overcoming depression is not as simple as saying “I’m fine,” even if it’s what a person wants to believe. “Me” focuses on an aggressive need for attention, which is what I crave most when I feel extremely low. “Ride,” “Australia,” and “Pursuit of Happiness” represent that, although I struggle, I am still taking my time in my life and am finding my own happiness again. Some of these songs have actually helped me with this process.

Partner Photo Project

Capturing my own personality seemed a bit funny to me, especially since it included blowing bubbles and taking pictures of it in the middle of an event on South Oval. I am glad my roommate was willing to take a plethora of photos trying to capture a few bubbles because I was left without a partner. It was more difficult than we thought it would be to catch some shiny spheres in a photograph, but it was silly and that is why I liked it. Of course people could see me having a bubble blowing photo shoot, but I did not mind it. I came up with the idea when I was given a free bottle of suds and immediately opened it with childlike enthusiasm. It was a beautiful day and I must say my outfit was actually put together as if I was ready to take this picture. I wanted to show the whimsical side of my personality, the side that loves to be dorky no matter who is around. I may be wearing lipstick and a statement necklace, and I may be on my way to study calculus, but I would never pass up the opportunity to make myself look funny as long as it means I am enjoying myself. I try to look at things in a positive light and try to soak up as much joy out of any experience I can. I have no pride that makes me think I need to look cool at all times, I would rather goof off and have a laugh about it later.image1
