Hello world!

Hi, my name is Erin Hoppe (hop-E).  I am a PhD student in art admin, education, and cultural policy @ OSU. I read, write, make, and question things that break down barriers in the creative sector. I have 15 years of experience as an arts administrator – those people who make theatres, galleries, and festivals come to life, build community, and promote creativity. I came into education later in life but am now passionate about teaching in higher education and offering professional development for practitioners. I’m more theory than practice right now and every fact is an interpretation and art is a power structure. I believe multiple truths exist and endeavor to bring some of them to light in research efforts with other creative sector stakeholders. We are all some kind of Other, so let go of dichotomies. I accept uncertainty, temporality, and power, and explore them for social justice efforts.

  1. “every fact is an interpretation” – I love this and agree…I have maintained this notion for as long as I can remember – it keeps me humble; keeps me curious; keeps me in trouble, quite often as well. Great to meet you today.

    • Hi Elaine – great to meet you, too. thanks for your time and comment – Here’s to Good Trouble! (I’ve now learned how to set up notifications when someone posts here.) Hope you’re well.
