Artifacts Project

Track 1- Landfill by Daughter- I chose this song because it resonates with my story. I have been hurt before, and this song expresses my feelings towards the situation. This is my “go to” song whenever I am feeling sad.

Track 2- Love Myself by Hailee Steinfeld- I chose this song because growing up, I was not my own biggest fan. I did not always fit in. Knowing what I know now, however, this song works as an anthem for me to love myself no matter what. So much can change once you make the decision to love yourself.

Track 3- Have No Fear by Bird York- I chose this song because it reminds me that no matter how tough times are, fear does you no good. It encourages me to not be afraid and take risks.

Track 4- Fireball By Pitbull ft. John Ryan- I chose this song because it represents my personality lately. I get very excited and have a lot of energy. I am a fireball.

Track 5- Run the World by Beyonce- I chose this song because I believe in girl power. Girls are often seen as the underdogs in comparison to men. I like to prove that as a woman, I can do anything- I can run the world.

Track 6- Roar by Katy Perry- I chose this song because she sings about having the eye of the tiger and the will to do anything. I connect with this song because I am the most dedicated and ambitious person that I know.

Track 7- Faith by George Michael- I chose this song because I rely on faith to get me through sticky situations. It gives me hope in accomplishing my goals to believe there is something else to guide me besides myself.

Track 8- Pursuit of Happiness by Kid Cudi- I chose this song because all I truly want out of life is to be happy. This song expresses this desire and movement along the path to happiness.

StrengthsQuest Reflection

The StrengthsQuest was created to give us insight to what our strengths are. These strengths should be focused on improvement, to help you become the best you can be. This does not mean to neglect your other strengths, but rather to focus primarily on your top five. My top five strengths are achiever, competition, restorative, communication, and responsibility.

One way that I have demonstrated my top strength of achiever is my vastly improved work ethic. In high school, I was one of those kids who did not have to study for a single test and still received high grades. However, after coming to college and receiving a 73 on my first calculus exam, I knew that although I was studying what I felt to be a lot, it wasn’t enough. So, for my second calculus exam, I studied for several days, went to office hours, and solved more practice problems until I understood every concept. My result was a 97 on the second exam. I pride myself on working hard until I get what I want, which is normally good grades and to make my parents proud.

Competition is another no-brainer with me. Having competed in dance competitions since elementary school, I know all too well what its like to be placed under high pressure situations. It gives me motivation and forces me to work my hardest until I am not only better than my previous self, but better than everyone else. Having strength in competition, I have won every dance national I have attended. It feels good to know that your hard work has paid off.

With regards to responsibility, I am committed to honesty and loyalty. One of the things I hate most is when people lie to me. Hence, when I am put into a situation where I need to lie, no matter how small of a lie it is, I am very uneasy about it. If you ask my parents, you’d know that I am quite possibly the worst liar out there. When I attempt to lie either my entire face blushes or I start laughing. Either way, I am horrible at it, making it seem logical that one of my top strengths is responsibility. Reflecting upon these strengths, I was able to learn more about myself and what I am good at.

Photo Partner Project

nicole conte

My photo project partner is Nicole Conte, and this picture does no justice to her personality because it is impossible to capture it in a single photograph. This photo shows her personality at the surface, but once you get to know her, you can see there is so much more to her. She is a dedicated musician who has been playing the flute since third grade, has known that she wants to conduct professional orchestras since the seventh grade, and who is working towards earning both her masters and doctorate in conducting. In addition to playing the flute, she plays six other instruments including the piccolo, piano, tenor saxophone, vocals and percussion. Furthermore, she is also a die hard coffee lover, similar to myself. However, what is impossible to capture in a single photograph is the extent to which she pours her heart and soul into music. From getting to know her, it is admiring to see the passion in her eyes when it comes to music. Its also impossible to see how bubbly and fun-loving she is. She looks at the world with an open mind and a willingness to learn. The smile on her face doesn’t do justice to the beauty within her. From getting to know her, I have also learned that as a person, she is very accepting towards others. She doesn’t judge others based on their differences, and embraces them as they are. She is a well rounded individual who will go places based on her drive for success.
