G.O.A.L.S. – 2nd Year Reflection

Global Awareness: I have not made physical process on this goal of global awareness as in I have not physically traveled much around the world – which I know is not something I can accomplish automatically. However, I have not stopped being open to learning about the world around me and bettering myself so as to understand the world better. I have plans to study abroad in the new future to be able to better physically accomplish this goal.

Original Inquiry: I have narrowed my goals for original inquiry so that I can better accomplish this overall task. Out of the options I had originally considered for further pursuing, I chose none of them – I have decided to pursue a minor in Earth Science, which I hadn’t considered until recently. I will still continue to learn about the other subjects that interest me, but I have chosen a main focus for original inquiry that I would love to pursue in depth in areas such as undergraduate research.

Year in Review

The past year at OSU has opened my eyes to a lot of different aspects of my life and the world around me. I have learned more about myself as a person than I have in the past few years of my life, part of which is thanks to what GES has exposed me to like group work, community service, and engineering. I have learned a lot more about what I want to do with my life which has helped me to narrow down what I will be doing with my future (such as studying abroad and doing undergraduate research). I am excited for my future!

G.O.A.L.S.

Global Awareness: I have been interested in a topic like global awareness for a long time. I have always been interested in things like travel and learning about world languages, cultures, religions, etc. One thing I have experienced under this topic is the chance to travel to Italy in 2013, and so I have attached a picture I took while there. I pretty much find all aspects of the world interesting and am always willing to learn new things, especially about other people and their experiences that I would never have the chance to have. Therefore I will probably always want to travel and learn and am glad that I have had the opportunity to once already.

Original Inquiry: While I technically have not done any original inquiry or research, I would love to have the opportunity to. There are many subjects that I find interesting (such as psychology, evolution/ecology, linguistics/languages, genetics) that I would always want to learn more about. The little experience I may have with original inquiry is not very original, but what I would do is find books on the subjects I find interesting in order to learn more. I have attached a picture of a book I have not read yet, but want to read in order to learn more about the subject of evolutionary psychology.

Artifacts

ecofinityfinal

This presentation is about the BD ecoFinity LifeCycle Solution. It is a plan intended to reduce the amount of medical waste by recycling and repurposing the plastic in used medical sharps such as needles and syringes. We did our project on this topic as we were all interested in medical equipment as well as the environment. Our studies found that it is a successful process already and is continuing, being implemented in many different places.
