About Me

Before Becoming A Buckeye

I was born in Komaki, Japan and lived there for the first 4 years of my life. In 2005,  my family and I moved to the United States in Northern Virginia where we still live today. I attended Westfield High School in Centreville, VA and graduated in 2019. During my time at Westfield, I was active in the band program, such as the marching band, concert band, symphony orchestra, and pit orchestra for musicals. I chose Ohio State as a senior because I have family that lives near campus, and I always remembered loving the campus every time I visited. I also knew I wanted to go to a big school, preferably a research institute, as I felt it would give me the most opportunities. Coming in to Ohio State, I was a Mathematics major, but I held various other interests including government, criminal justice, and film studies.

A Change of Heart

On my first day of classes here, I switched my major to what I felt I was truly passionate about: politics. I changed to a World Politics major with the hopes of having a career involved in international policy and relations under the US government, such as in the State Department, or to do work for international and intergovernmental organizations, such as United Nations, UNICEF, or Amnesty International. I am now a Political Science and Criminology/Criminal Justice Double Major, with my interests being in law, the democratic process, and the criminal justice system.
