Abstracted Metamorphosis

SUMMARY

Our goal was to research multiple different nature forms and deconstruct them. After taking them apart and taking their essential forms, we had to create a new form using those essential forms from the original object. We had to make 3 objects. One that could contain someone, one that could support someone and one that could be used by someone. The goal was to finish with three objects that have elements of the original piece, but not be too representational. The research, observation and abstraction in this process led me to my final 3 pieces.

REFLECTION

The process for this project challenged me at first. I was doing all of the research and taking everything apart piece by piece and something still felt off. I began to learn how this process isn’t supposed to be a straight shot to the finish line. There will be bumps and stops along the way, but this is what makes the project the best it can be. Once I realized this, I appreciated the times where I needed to step back and think deeper about the different pieces of this project. This more in depth thought process allowed myself to think differently than I normally would and I ended up with a project that I felt very proud of.
