Review of “Inescapable Truth” – Season 1, Episode 9
This week focuses on the disappearance of a rock musician that Backstrom and his team must solve. While the investigation is going on Backstrom is also trying to solve if him and his roommate Valentine are related in anyway. For a full review check out the Review tab
Review of “Give ‘Til it Hurts” – Season 1, Episode 8
After the mid-season break, Backstrom and his team are back solving the hit-and-run murder of a wealthy women. This episode does a good job not over-bearing the audience with offensive remarks and jokes, which seems to be a catching trend in the newer episodes. Also, the relationship between him and his ex, Amy, takes an interesting turn. For a full review check out the Review tab.
Review of “Enemy of My Enemy” – Season 1, Episode 7
With the introduction of Blue Backstrom, Backstrom’s father, this episode is all about past wounds involving Backstrom and his dad. This makes it a pretty good episode and the case was good too. For the full review please check out the Review tab.
Review of “Ancient, Chinese, Secret” – Season 1, Episode 6
Not quite as interesting as last week, but I was not completely turned off. A brand new sub-plot is added to the show, but they did not really move Backstrom’s character. For a full review please go to the Review page.
Review of “Bogeyman” – Season 1, Episode 5
My personal favorite of the four shows that I have watched so far. This show is very crime focused and not so much about building up the character of Backstrom, except that this case is re-occurrence from the past. The rude humor that normally saturates the show, was almost absent. For a full review, see the Review page.
Review of “I Am a Bird Now” – Season 1, Episode 4
Probably the most risky and offensive of the episodes up to this point. The bright spots of the episode come when the audience sees the inner turmoil that Backstrom is dealing with over the person that he killed. I did like this episode the best out of them all though. Check out the complete review in the Review section.
Review of “Takes One to Know One” – Season 1, Episode 3
Going off the last episode, this episode does a lot to show who Backstrom really is. Hopefully, the introduction of Sarah Chalke to the show was not just for this episode as it showed that he was capable of love and he is much deeper than just a mean, cynical cop.
