RECRUITMENT IS CURRENTLY CLOSED FOR THE 2025 FIELD SEASON.
We are still looking for at least one site for 2026.
Before officially joining the project, there are a few steps that interested residents can take.
1. To be considered a site, we need three houses in a row to participate. Please chat with your neighbors to see if they’re interested! While we will also reach out and contact your neighbors, we have found that hearing about this project from a friend, neighbor, or member of the community is a successful way to get the word out about our study and makes people more likely to participate 🙂

3. Once we have three houses in a row, we will contact each participants and schedule a Zoom or in-person meeting with each group of three participants to go over the eligibility and consent forms as a group. The eligibility and consent forms can be found in the links below:

People that have severe allergic reactions to bees (e.g., those that induce anaphylaxis or require an EpiPen) are not eligible to participate in the study.
After all participants have been identified within Franklin County, we will schedule a second in-person meeting to provide final details regarding the project. We will provide best mosquito management tactics at this time and determine where you would like mosquito traps placed in yards, when applicable. This second meeting should take no more than 30 minutes. We anticipate this will happen in April or May.
