Year in Review

IMG_0019This past year had been the craziest, hardest, and most life changing year of my life. This year has come with so many new experiences and lessons. For the first time in my life I got a taste of independence and adulthood. I had to change and adjust to the harder classes and the new level of responsibility that came with going to college. There are things that I regret such as not spending enough time with HSS or never making it to a basketball game. However, this year a lot of good things happened too. I found an amazing set of friends that can make me laugh without fail. I found an elementary school to volunteer at that I love, and I have grown to love the kids that I work with. Lastly, I think I officially feel like a buckeye. Next year my main goal is to really buckle down with regards to my academics. This year I think I had a lot of distractions and I was constantly trying to balance school, volunteering, and trying to make new friends. I think after this year I have a better understanding of what is asked of me and I won’t be distracted by the changing environment and people because in many ways Columbus has come to feel like home.

Do.

IMG_0041Growing up I was basically brain washed into being an Ohio State fan. This is where my family went and it’s the school they are dedicated to. Despite this upbringing, prior to coming to OSU I had never been to a football game. My whole life my family watched these games every Saturday without fail. Going to a football game was honestly what I was most excited to do once I got to college. I love everything about the game. The fans, the songs, the spirit, and of course the rivalry. This was definitely my favorite new experience this semester.

Go.

IMG_0147This year, somewhere new that I went was Anna Maria Island, FL. I went with some of my friends from OSU for spring break. This was a new experience for me because growing up I was never able to go anywhere for spring break because of sports conflicts. It was also the first time I had ever been on a trip with just my friends. It was so much fun and it was a great way to wrap up freshman year.

Eat.

IMG_2674Prior to coming to OSU I had never really spent much time in Columbus. So when I got here I wanted to find the best local food places. One weekend me and my friends decided to go to the North Market in Short North. I went and I couldn’t resist buying the donuts. They were absolutely amazing! My personal favorite was the green one which is pistachio and apricot. I never really stray from my classic glaze so I was definitely surprised at which one I liked the best.

About Me

IMG_3430My name is Sarah Hatcher. I’m originally from Cincinnati, Ohio. In 2015 I graduated from Amelia High School where I played varsity softball and varsity golf. I am now a freshman at THE Ohio State University. I am a pre-neuroscience major and I am also on the pre-med track. My goal is to get accepted to medical school and eventually become a pediatrician. I have a passion for working with kids and I volunteer at Slate Hill Elementary school to tutor elementary school kids. Some of my main interested are travel, anything to do with the outdoors (hiking, camping, boating, etc.), and spending time with friends and family.
