Year in Review
[ “Year in Review” is where you should reflect on the past year and show how you have evolved as a person and as a student. You may want to focus on your growth in a particular area (as a leader, scholar, researcher, etc.) or you may want to talk about your overall experience over the past year. G.O.A.L.S.
I plan to obtain my Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering. I have already completed technical school with the Air Force for Avionics Systems. By attending that, I have developed fundamental skills in electronics, leadership, and teamwork, all which are needed in my degree. I wish to advance through this degree without collecting any debt. I have so far been able to save enough funds for my Undergraduate Degree with scholarships and my commitment to the Air Force. An obstacle to push back this goal, with my military commitment, I would have to give up a semester randomly based on the status of my military base. I have various resources on campus like the Veteran Affairs Office and my academic advisor to help me plan round such situations.
I also plan to qualify for Club Wrestling Nationals. I recently joined the team and I have had a long past of wrestling with not just myself but as well as my father. I qualified for Freestyle and Greco Roman Wrestling Nationals in my High School wrestling career, but I chose to pass up the opportunity to focus on my studies. Although, I regret this decision, I understand why I made it. I have made the commitment to attend the three practices a week at a minimum, while also exercising at a level that will put myself above the other competitors. The wrestling season calls for physical discipline with my diet and workout schedule, so a potential obstacle for my goal is keeping my academic career a priority. Since academics come before wrestling, if my academics drop because of my wrestling commitment, then I will have to give up this commitment to refocus my time management. To help me with dealing with these stresses, I have a great coach who can train me and multiple tutoring and learning centers to keep my academics as a priority.
Career
[“Career” is where you can collect information about your experiences and skills that will apply to your future career. Like your resume, this is information that will evolve over time and should be continually updated. For more information, go to: http://honors-scholars.osu.edu/e-portfolio. Artifacts
In this powerpoint presentation, the cost and effects of solar cells and their farms are over viewed. Since green power is up and coming in the near future, my group decided to look into what exactly we should be seeing. We found that the main factor holding back the mass production of solar cells is the extremely expensive cost that each one needs to be made. If the cost was not a factor, the power from solar cells would be more than enough to supply our nation and even the world.
About Me
My name is Andrew Hassel, and I’m currently starting my first year at Ohio State. I plan on majoring in electrical engineering. I’m also involved with Green Engineering Scholars, Club Wrestling, and the Ohio Air National Guard. I spent the last year of schooling in Texas to attend my avionics technical school. This further developed my interest of electrical engineering as I worked on the electrical systems of planes. I hope to attend graduate school to receive my Master’s degree.
