Mentor Interview:
I met up with my PSL mentor at mirror lake, as we both took this opportunity as an opportunity to get out of our rooms and enjoy the weather and campus (although it was extremely hot on this day). Her name is Cate Ziegler. She is a sophomore, majoring in medicine, specifically human nutrition. Although funny enough, she hasn’t taken any human nutrition classes yet. I have though, so we found that funny. Cate is from the Cleveland area and currently lives off-campus. Cate is really athletic. She is on the water ski team and is also part of the fitness club CHAARG. Although she isn’t completely sure yet just what she wants to do, Cate was thinking pre-law when applying to OSU, and that is why she picked PSL as her scholars group. She felt it would be a good community to be a part of considering the grand scale of OSU.
It was important to me to get to talk to Cate, because it is always helpful to talk to someone who has been where you have. As a freshman starting college in the middle of a pandemic, it gives some relief to learn about how things work from someone with experience, instead of having to figure it all out on my own. I have a better knowledge now of what I can do in my upcoming years. Cate gave me a lot of great advice, but overall was just a great person to talk to in general. I’m happy I had this opportunity.
