About Me

Hi! My name is Margot Hare (she/her), and I’m a fourth year at The Ohio State University in the Stamps Eminence Scholarship Program. I am triple majoring in Russian, Linguistics, and Computer & Information Science. In 2018, I started exploring Russian and computer science on a whim, and I fell in love. The strange (to a native English speaker) grammatical system of Russian drew me in and made me realize how fun language could be. This, in turn, drew me into the field of linguistics, which is my primary focus. Computer science, to me, is simply an excellent tool to have under your belt (and it’s also a lot of fun). Given my range of interests, there are many careers I could wind up in, but I’m currently most interested in language analysis.

In addition to my academics, I’m currently serving as President for Code 4 Community, a student organization focused on designing simple games to teach young students about the basics of programming. We do regular workshops with Columbus elementary and middle schools as well as with COSI. I’m also currently working on my honors thesis the Linguistics department’s Phonology lab.
