The University Honors & Scholars Center at The Ohio State University serves high-ability, motivated undergraduate students. My G.O.A.L.S.

  • Global Awareness: Because of my coursework this semester, I am learning much more about injustices brought on by societal norms and historic governmental intervention. I am going to continue my learning about these topics that have caused the oppression of marginalized groups in society, so in my extracurriculars and my future career, I can increase equitable and equal opportunities for all people.
  • Original Inquiry: I would like to get involved with research within the Glenn College of Public Affairs sometime in my college career. What really interests me is election demographics and voter suppression, so I would like to do research about this once the 2020 election results come out. I also plan on completing the Glenn College Combined program (BA and MPA), so I would like to do academic writing in those avenues.
  • Academic Enrichment: I hope to enrich my academic experience at Ohio State by participating in several internships. The ones (so far) that I am in the process of applying for Summer 2021 are the Trust & Safety Internship at Spotify and the Washington Academic Internship Program through the John Glenn College of Public Affairs. Both of these internships will deepen my knowledge as to how policy is engaged within the public and private sphere. This year, I am also a part of STEP (Second-Year Transformational Experience Program) and I hope to use my STEP funds for an internship.
  • Leadership Development: This year I am a Co-Coordinator of Membership in the Undergraduate Student Government. For my remaining two years here at tOSU, I hope that I continue to access leadership opportunities within this organization to serve all students in the Ohio State community. One day I wish to be a member of the Collaborative Leadership Team or maybe even a member of Senior Staff.
  • Service Engagement: In my second year, I am completing the Year of Service requirement within Mount along with the ESHESA 2571S Leadership in Community Service course. It is my goal to continue my endeavor of service-learning my last two years at Ohio State at Broad Street Achievement, the tutoring site I am currently working with. So far, the experiences there have been a valuable learning experience even though we have not started working with the kids yet.
