Position Description for a Faculty Member in Consumer Finance
Position Level: Assistant or
Associate Professor
Salary Range: Commensurate with qualifications
for 9 month position
Desired Degrees: Ph.D.
in Family Economics or Business with a specialization in Consumer
Finance. Certified Financial Planner credential desirable
but not required.
Principal Duties:
Teach
undergraduate and graduate courses in the areas of consumer
finance, retirement and estate planning, insurance planning,
household investment theory, and the economics of household
resource allocation. Advise and direct graduate and
undergraduate students. Seek external funding for
conducting and publishing scholarly research in finance and
family economics. Responsibility for ongoing oversight for
the Consumer Finance programs accreditation with Certified
Financial Planner Board of standards. Commitment to
outreach as well as service on departmental, school, and
university levels.
