Reflection

From this assignment, our team learned that most daily tasks associated with getting ready with one hand result in the following problems: dangerous, lack of stability, takes too long, and/or is too challenging. We each were familiar with the tasks that we performed ourselves, but it wasn’t until we were working on this assignment that we realized that there is a lot of overlap in regard to the types of problems we came across. This step of “putting the problems down on paper” simplified the project for us, as we will know which main problems need to be addressed with our design. Now that we have these problems written down, it will open up the doors to come up with many possible solutions to address them. In addition to this, creating a persona allowed us to gain even more empathy for those who must get ready for their days with only one hand. We also realized that our solution will impact other areas of our user’s life as a result of time and energy saved when getting ready. In future assignments relating to this project, we will be more cognizant of the lifestyles and wishes of potential one-handed users, which will make our product more useful/desirable to our target market. Overall, we have gained empathy for our users and a wider understanding of our goals for the product we will design.
