Year in Review 2019

I’ve made a few big changes this year. I officially decided that a future in business is not for me and changed my major to microbiology during the autumn semester. It was a bit of a difficult decision considering I didn’t know how it would affect my being in business scholars, but once I talked it over with Jena, everything turned out fine and I am very happy with my decision.

Another big thing this semester was that I started volunteering at the Ohio State University Medical Center. I volunteer once a week for three hours and it is a very rewarding experience. I am able to meet all kinds of people, both patients and staff. The first photo I included is me in the volunteer lounge after having walked a mile and a half in 3″ of snow, while it was still snowing, to get there on time at 6 in the morning.

This year I also got a job, which I didn’t do last year. I’ve been working at Panera since August of 2018 and I love the people I meet as well as those I work with. I gained a couple of really good friends through working there and am hoping to continue working there next year as well.

Along with changing to microbiology, I’ve also decided to go on the Pre-Med track. The second picture is my trying to teach myself anatomy, which I have to say, drawing it like that did help a bit. I’ve been interesting in the medical field since I was young, but never wanted to dedicate myself to all the years of schooling. I realized that if I want to enjoy my future career I might as well suffer a bit as the start and enjoy my job the rest of my life.

Those are pretty much the only big changes I’ve made this year, so I don’t have too much to reflect on. As the third photo, I just included a picture of the sky on north campus that I thought was a bit picturesque and that I enjoy quite a bit. I’ve realized this year that I enjoy looking at the sky and watching the clouds during the day, and stars at night. Along with this, I’ve realized the wonder that are planetariums, I love going and learning about the stars.
