In responding to the COVID-19 crisis, our school adopted a series of policy changes in order to enact mitigation measures based upon evidence-based best practice. In order to create these policies, I was on an assembled “GoForward Team,” that included many perspectives from the entire school. My role was to bring in a medical perspective and coordinate with Lorain County Public Health in order to be sure our decisions were based upon the latest research and evidence. The team worked throughout the summer in order to create the policies we released to the school before the first day back in August. We continue to meet as a team weekly in order to discuss the ever-changing situation with COVID-19, and we have made a few revisions to our playbook throughout the year.
