Community

Contributors from 16 different units on Ohio State University (OSU) campus collaborated to realizing Professor Lesley Ferris’s vision for the Sahar Speaks plays which were performed on October 7, 2019. The plays made two very distinct Afghan voices come to life and added to a legacy of international theatre projects at OSU. Each one contributed either to the plays, the development of the project, or to its reach in the community or to classroom impact – or a combination.

A number of roles were played by faculty, staff and students to make the project successful, extended its reach in the community, and/or integrated Sahar Speaks plays into OSU classrooms: research and teaching; outreach and engagement; event and guest speaker logistics; and of course acting, directing, dramaturgy and the practices of theatre production.
