Adrienne completed her PhD through the Integrative Immunology and Behavior program at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign in May 2018. She is currently a T32 Postdoctoral Fellow at Ohio State and is investigating the impact of gestational stress and infection on maternal microbial responses and offspring neurodevelopment and behavior. Adrienne and her fiancé live with their 3 rescued cats and spend their free time exercising, reading, and listening to science and true crime podcasts.
Helen Chen is a third-year MSTP student interested in maternal-fetal psychiatry and obstetrics and gynecology. She graduated from Northwestern University in 2016 with a degree in neuroscience and cognitive science. In her free time, she enjoys cooking and baking (and eating), watching baseball (go Nats!), and exploring the city.
Therese is a first-year student in the Environmental Sciences Graduate Program, specializing in Environmental Public Health. She graduated from Ohio State in 2017, majoring in Neuroscience and minoring in Spanish, and earned an MPH in 2019 from Ohio State. She is an avid fan of TED talks, coffee, people-watching, and savoring quiet moments.
Matt is currently a PGY-2 resident in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology. He completed his PhD in Neuroscience in 2014 and his MD in 2017 at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. He is interested in the impact of maternal inflammation and infection on fetal brain development, neurocognitive development, and pregnancy outcomes. Matt currently lives with his wife, daughter, and dog and enjoys spending time outdoors with the family and doing home improvement projects.
Sydney was an undergraduate in the lab before taking the position as Lab Manager. Her ultimate goal is to attend medical school, specializing in women’s reproductive health and wellness using a holistic lens. Her hobbies include cooking healthy meals, visiting art museums, painting and spending time outdoors with her family.
Julia is a graduate student at Ohio State’s College of Public Health, pursuing a Master’s in Public Health, specializing in Epidemiology. She graduated from Ohio State in 2019, majoring in Public Health with a specialization in Sociology. She is interested in behavioral research, as well as how the environment effects development. She hopes to pursue a career in behavioral medicine. Outside of academics, she is an avid skier and dog lover.
Allison is a 3rd year undergraduate student at Ohio State majoring in Molecular Genetics. While she is still figuring out what she would like to do after her undergraduate degree, she hopes to gain the necessary laboratory skills to pursue a career in bettering health outcomes for others. She enjoys dancing to music when nobody’s watching and petting her dog.
Hannah is a 3rd year undergraduate student at Ohio State majoring in Neuroscience through the College of Arts and Sciences. Her career goals include attending medical school where she hopes to pursue a career in Obstetrics and Gynecology. She is volunteering in the Gur Lab in order to expand her knowledge of scientific inquiry and lab protocol while also understanding and practicing lab techniques. In her free time she enjoys photography/videography, listening to music, and hanging out with family and friends.
Zach is a 3rd year undergraduate student at Ohio State majoring in Neuroscience. After completing his studies at Ohio State, he hopes to attend medical school where he plans on pursuing a career in sports medicine. By volunteering in the Gur Lab, he strives to obtain the necessary laboratory skills to make a difference in his community while learning more about all facets of medicine. In his free time, Zach enjoys staying active, playing the guitar, and reading Harry Potter.
Jen is a 2nd year undergraduate at Ohio State majoring in Behavioral Neuroscience and
minoring in Integrative Approaches to Health and Wellness. Post graduation, she plans to
attend Ohio States MSTP program where she hopes to explore her interests in the growing
impacts of environmental stress on chronic disease, as well as develop her deeply seeded
passion for healing others. After schooling, she hopes to continue treating patients while
influencing policy surrounding healthcare, FDA protocol, and EPA regulations. In her free time,
she enjoys figure skating, poetry/blogging, studying world religions, and playing the guitar.
Lauren is a medical student at The Ohio State University College of Medicine interested in Cardiology and Obstetrics & Gynecology. She is conducting research in the Gur Lab funded by the Bennett Medical Student Research Scholarship through OSUCOM. She earned a Bachelors of Science in Biology and a Bachelors of Arts in Psychology at Ohio University in 2018. Lauren enjoys cuddling with her cat, Albus, watching Netflix, and spending time with her friends and family.

She earned a Bachelors of Arts in Biology with a Minor in Neuroscience from Miami University and a Master’s of Science in Medical Physiology at Case Western Reserve University. In her spare time, Paige enjoys working out, hiking, kayaking, and spending time with family and friends.
Amber is a dental student at The Ohio State University. She graduated from Ohio State in 2019, majoring in Finance. She hopes to use her skills to find new ways to increase dental access and affordability for under-served populations. In her spare time, Amber enjoys exploring the food scene in Columbus, reading new books, and spending time with her family.
Moriah is a dental student at University of Louisville. She graduated from Ohio State majoring in Chinese while on the pre-dental track. She is interested in the work behind new findings and how research applies to medical breakthroughs. In her spare time, she enjoys drawing, singing, and spending time with friends.

Hello Buckeyes! My name is Jenna Patterson and I am a fourth-year medical student at The Ohio State University College of Medicine. I am originally from Dayton, Ohio and completed my undergraduate degree in Biology at Ohio State. My path in research began during undergrad where I studied neuroimmunology, and has continued throughout medical school. My recent projects with the Gur lab have focused on the neuroimmune relationship in response to prenatal stress and it’s lasting effects on the offspring. These recent research interests align with my passion for women’s health and goal of pursuing a career in Obstetrics and Gynecology. Outside of medicine and research, I love to run, spend time with friends and family, travel and explore Columbus!
Aditi graduated with a Masters degree in Bioinformatics in 2011 from Arizona State University. Since then she has been wholly devoted to research, gaining expertise in several basic science techniques, performing high throughput computational data analysis using Microarray and Miseq Targeted Sequencing, setting up mice breeding experiments and successfully managing a research laboratory. She brings her expertise to the lab, and applies these techniques to understanding effects of stress on gestational outcomes. Aditi is currently a Senior Research Scientist at Fred Hutchinson in Seattle, WA.
Sydney graduated from OSU’s MPH-PEP program in August 2017 and will finish a working professionals’ MBA in 2020.
Amber graduated from OSU in 2018, majoring in Public Health and minoring in Microbiology. She is currently pursuing a Master’s in Public Health, specializing in Epidemiology, at Emory University. She loves to paint, exercise, and advocate for women’s rights.
Lena is a 2018 graduate of The Ohio State University College of Medicine, she is currently an OB/GYN resident at Baylor. Lena completed her Bachelor’s degree in biology at Ohio Northern University, and in her free time she enjoys exploring Columbus and teaching herself to cook. Lena received a COM Medical Student Research Scholarship, with Dean’s Distinction, to fund her laboratory endeavors.
Jonathan was a Biology Major with a neuroscience minor at Ohio State. He is currently a medical student in his home state of Hawaii. Jonathan enjoys sushi and football (Go Bucks!).
Ellen was a Neuroscience major at Ohio State. She is currently a medical student at OU COM. Ellen enjoys running, blogging, and volunteering.
