You Are Almost There!

With the semester coming to an end I know some of us are ready to give up. I know I am! All of the final exams are happening in the same week. Some are cramming studying while some left the studying in God’s hands. No matter which category you fit in, just know it is okay. We had a long and tiring semester. Motivation and determination are slowly dying. This post you are reading today will provide you with some activities that will help keep motivated till the end.

My number one source of motivation is exercising. Exercising keeps me be energized and keeps me in a positive mood in general. I feel less fatigue and less moody when exercising. One form of exercise that is really relaxing is called Yoga. Yoga can help calm the mind and body. It can be a bit pricey sometimes but do not worry. There are some apps that can help you practice yoga for free or for a very low price. So if you are ever feeling down and low in energy, try yoga. If yoga is not for you, there are thousands of other activities that can help with motivation. Just use your resources and search for what is perfect for you. I will provide a link below that can direct you to some yoga apps. Enjoy!!

Research like a Scientist

I know with shcool approching to an end, most of us have research papers due. Isntead of starting now, procastination is most likely taking over. If you are one of those procastinators here is one useful website that can help you get both your life and your papers together.

The Owl Purdue website is a wrtitting lab that has every resource to help with any type of paper. There are resources from writing teachers to writing tutors. There is no excuse for you to not write a great essay while having access to that website. From start to finish anything you need can be found from that resource site. One of their greatest tools in my opinion is the citation page. Many different types of citations can be found there step by step.

During high school I had so many IB papers to write. This website helped me through all those papers and continued on to helping me in my college papers also. It even has a page for general writing. Believe me any type of writing you can thkin of, this resource site can help you through it and more. Since it has helped me with many of my papers, I hope it can help you too.

Be a Better Listener!!

If you are anything like me, I am sure you had a whole conversion with another being and not hear one word they said. It got to the point where I would just nod and act like I heard every bit of the conversation. Warning, do not do that. Do not act like you were paying attention when in reality you did not hear zap! Instead, try these few methods that might turn you into a better listener.

  1. Focus: Focus on what is being said. Make the speaker has your undivided attention.
  2.  Repeat: Make sure you are able to repeat what the other person is saying. Act like you have to write a summary of the conversation or lecture later on.
  3. Ask questions: If you are not sure about something it is always best to ask for clarification before it is too late.
  4. Look for signals: Facial expressions, body language, and tone of voice can all work as great signals. Learning someone’s body language can also help understand that person better.
  5. Listen for request: There is always a hidden message in most of our conversations. Someone can tell us their likes or dislikes during a conversation. Listening to that can maybe help you decided on a birthday gift for them later in the future.

I hope these methods can help you on becoming a better listener.

4.3 Are You Really Listening?

What’s the SQ3R Method?

Reading assignments is my worst enemy. I cannot find it in me to focus through the entire reading. Sometimes I can read a whole article and not even understand one idea about it. I wish I would have known about this strategy called the SQ3R method sooner.

The SQ3R method which stands for “Skim, Question, Read, Recite, Review”.

Step #1: Skim. When you first get an article or anything reading related, skimming through is essential. It will help you get ready fro the article and help you undeertsand how to take notes properly.

Step #2:Question. Asking questions while reading can help with keeping focuse. It will make you be more aware and be more prone to paying attention to the smaller details.

Step #3: Read: It is obvuous you have to read whatever you are supposed to read but the key is how you’re reading it. While reading it is important to underline and highlight. This will make it easier to go back to the main ideas.

Steap #4: Recite. Summarizin what you read can help you undertsand your material better. Putting it in your own words will guarentee  that you understand the material.

Step #5: Review: Once you are done reading, go back over the material and read it in your own words.

Following this strategy will help you undertand all your reading materials better.

Use your time wisely!!

When it comes to procrastinating, you can say I am the queen of it. I will literally sit for hours and complain about how I hate being a procrastinator and still not do my work. Do not be like me, fellow students.  If you have a procrastination problem, read the rest of this blog and pick up on some strategies that might change your life forever.

Forbes has provided us a list of strategies that can help with a bad case of procrastination. I will share a few strategies with you that will hopefully be of some help.

My favorite out of the list is “Develop Routines and Discipline”.  Having discipline in life will shape one up to be a leader. Having discipline in yourself will make it easier for you to take accountability for your own actions. Everyone loves people who take accountability.

“Discovering Why you Are Procrastinating” is also a great strategy. For me, it helps knowing why I am procrastinating. Most of the time, it is because I do not understand the material. Figuring out the “why” leads me to come up with solutions. I might just need to go back and rewatch or reread the material. It also helps to ask my peers since they might be able to explain it better than the professor.

There are many other ways to fight procrastination. It is up to you to find your method and stick with it.

How to be a pro in the tech world. Module 2

As a student in the 21st century, we rely a lot on the internet. We expect everything to be on the internet from how to raise a baby lamb to how to make lamb chops. Every single thought that crosses our brain can be found on the internet. The internet is indeed a powerful tool. While this tool can help us in many ways, it can also be harmful in the same amount of ways. It is important to learn the correct way to use the internet, especially as students.

One way we can be sure we are using the internet in the correct manner is to master netiquette. Netiquette is the basic etiquette for the internet world. Learning basic netiquette can protect our digital reputation. It is not fun to be “canceled” later in the future because of some mistake you made on the internet.

It is easy to make mistakes on the internet if you do not know how to communicate online. While communicating online, we are building an online reputation. Others can judge us solely on how we present ourselves online. As students, having good communication skills online can literally boost our status. Emailing your professor in the correct manner can open many doors from awesome recommendation letters to even having a professor as a mentor. Learning how to properly use the internet will only help us as we chase this degree.
