I am an assistant professor in the Mathematics department. I am from the great, snowy north (Minnesota), and I still appreciate ice hockey and long goodbyes. Before coming to The Ohio State University, I spent 8 years at Harvard, and before that, I completed my postdoctoral training at that school up north.
My research is in higher dimensional complex analysis, and in particular, I am interested in mapping problems and their connections with other areas of mathematics and engineering. Starting in 2016, several colleagues and I created the Harvard College Emerging Scholars Program. This program was a 4-year academic enrichment program meant to support and launch students into STEM fields. Since then, I’ve had a scientific interest in understanding why some students persist in STEM fields and others don’t. Using carefully constructed experiments and evidence-based practices, I want to support my students in the best ways possible.
