Grant Opportunity on the Near East side (43203 and 43205)

There is a grant opportunity for organizations  such as community gardens, urban farms, schools,  or food education groups to receive up to $10,000 in funding to support their work.  This is for work done in the 43203 and 43205 Zip Codes.  Do not delay!  This is an outstanding opportunity.  RFP’s due May 9th

PLEASE review the Grant RFP and details closely and note this has a very short time frame in order to disburse remaining grant funds to meet end of grant time lines. The grant aligns with the Food for a Long Life project that OSU Extension County, Family and Consumer Sciences participates in.

Harvesting a Healthy Spinach Salad

Jenny and I were back in the garden and the kitchen to create a healthy and delicious salad made from home grown spinach planted last fall, grown over winter and harvested fresh from the demonstration garden.  The spinach salad can be topped with any number of different fruits, nuts and cheeses as well.  Enjoy!

Lots of other fun and healthy growing and preparing videos can be found on our OSU Extension Franklin County YouTube channel.

Would you like to learn how to grow over winter?  Here is a virtual class recorded this past fall that will demonstrate the technique so that you can harvest homegrown spinach in the late winter and early spring.
