Contoured Countertop
This is a simple design of a new top of countertop. Instead of having a sink in a bowl shape, the countertop slopes toward the drain.
This design took the contour countertop to a new level. There is a faucet that extends to all areas of the sink/countertop. The front view shows how it is jsut a countertop that slopes toward the drain. There is no restriction on the size of pot/pan/dish that fits in this sink.
Rotating Plate
The rotating plate idea was split into two different concepts for possible uses:
- Rotating Plate with motorized rotation
This plate would be heavy enough so that it does not move in the sink. It is coated with a non-slip surface on top so that the dishes do not slip as they rotate. The user would operate this device using the remote control that would sit next to the edge of the sink and is connected via a waterproof wire. The user can select multiple options include a slow rotation, fast rotation, pulse, and the stop button. This plate’s rotation would allow the user to simply hold their scrubbing brush or dish rag against the surface of a dish (large or small) and much of the scrubbing would be done by the motion of the rotating plate.
2. Hand powered Rotating Plate
This rotating plate is coated with a non-slip surface such as silicone and has holes covering it for water to drain through it. The user would scrub the dish on top of the plate and as they scrub it would turn on an axis underneath the plate. This is a cheaper alternative to the motorized plate and does not involve electricity, which is beneficial when working with water.
Double Edged Sponge and Scraper
This design features a sponge on one end of the handle and a scraper on the other end
This design took the previous design one step further by ended different sized scrapers for better precision. These scrapers are interchangeable the same way knives on a swiss army knife function
Double Sided Suction Cup Holder
This concept from the initial concept generation was updated to create new improved designs.
1.
This design features an absorbent cloth that lines the outside of the suction cup. This will keep the suction cup dry and enable it to stick to the bottom of a wet sink better.
2.
This design features a lever which is used to activate and deactivate the suction of the large bottom suction cup. This was added to be easier for someone with one hand to remove and attach this device.
Bed of Bristles
The original design featured four posts of bristles sitting on a bristle bed, shown below.
The updated concept added more bristles to ensure the posts and spacing could effectively clean dishes.
The second update to this design resulted in a new product focused on drying dishes. The product takes the same shape of the frame but instead of bristles the posts are covered with a towel. The towel can be removed from the frame to be washed. The suction cups in this design would be placed on the counter and it is not expected that water would impact the products ability to stick and hold still.
Removable Silicone Sink Liner
The intent of this concept is to prevent slippage of dishes in the sink. It is removable so it can be cleaned to avoid gross build-up and is dishwasher safe so the user does not need to deal with washing another cumbersome item. The liner will still have a hole in the bottom so it can drain, but will allow the user to apply pressure when washing a dish, like a pot, without the dish sliding everywhere.
Clamp-On Lockable Clip Gripper
The intent of this concept is to secure a dish in place by clipping onto the side while the user needs to wash. The handles are squeezed until the dish is tightly gripped, then the handles are locked in that position with a switch-like component on the top handle. The gripper can handle dishes of different sizes due to its clipping adjustability. Once the dish is washed/scrubbed, the lock can be undone and the dish can be removed. To secure the gripper onto the sink, there is a clamp feature that attaches to the partition in the middle of the sink. The clamp simply twists until the gripper is secured tightly onto the sink. To remove the gripper, the clamp untwists.
