Final Concepts

Double Edged Sponge and Scraper

The final concept of the double-edged sponge and scraper that will be part of our final presentation and prototyping stages consists of a handle with a sponge (or bristles) on one end and different sized scrapers on the other end. The scraper end functions like a swiss army knife, there will be a variety of scraper sizes that can be interchanged to fit the need of the user. This design is easy to use and only requires one hand.

Rotating Plate

The final concept of the rotating plate that will be a part of our final presentation and prototyping stages is the motorized rotating plate. This idea is one of the more distinctive designs and brings in an element that most users should be familiar with. This product could be left in the sink at all times for ease of use and would allow a user with one arm to wash large dishes more easily and more precisely. It is easy to operate and there are many possibilities for ways to make it look atheistically pleasing for the user who wishes to make it a part of their every day life.

Double Sided Suction Cup Holder

The final concept that will move on to the prototyping stage combines the two updated concepts created since each added an independent function to the tool. By combining the two ideas, the concept gets both of the advantages that each individual concept provides. The lever will be difficult to prototype but since this is similar to what is already on the market, and there is low technical risk, the cloth will be prototyped. At a further stage, the lever could be integrated into the design.

Bed of Bristles

The final concept of the bed of bristles that will be prototyped and part of our final presentation is the thick bristle bed. The additional bristles ensure that all parts of the plate will be cleaned and no food or stains will be left on the dishes. Suction cups on the bottom prevent the bed from moving. This design makes it possible for anyone to was a dish with one hand.

Removable Silicone Sink Liner

The final concept that will move on to the prototyping stage is the removable silicone sink liner. This dishwasher-safe liner enables a user to scrub dishes in the sink with only one hand without them sliding around. The silicone surface will provide traction, which is especially helpful for larger dishes like pots and pans that have lots of surface area to clean. This low-cost, easy-to-clean solution can reduce the difficulties of washing and scrubbing dishes for one-handed users.
