Biology, Ecology and Control of Ticks and Mosquitoes in Ohio
Dr. Darryl Ramoutar, Extension Educator, Vector Borne Diseases, The Ohio State University
Ohio is home to several tick and mosquito species that may transmit diseases. These arthropods include the American dog, black-legged and lone star ticks; and nearly 60 mosquito species belonging to the Aedes, Culex, and Anopheles. An integrated pest management approach including habitat amendment, cultural practices and pesticide (biological and conventional) application should be adopted to mitigate the spread of vector borne diseases.

Keeping the Trailer Attached to the Truck
Fred Whitford, Director, Purdue Pesticide Programs
Understanding the factors that play a critical role in keeping the trailer connected to the truck reduces the likelihood that a trailer will detach during transportation. Hitches are a complex integration of components working together to keep the trailer hooked to the truck. Hooking a trailer to a truck creates a single vehicle through a hitch mechanism, safety chains, emergency trailer brake, and load distribution and securement.
