The year of 2018-2019 has been a great sophomore school year with great classes, a good community, and a lot of handwork. Through this year, I have excelled in the classroom, as I have raised my GPA from last year, and I also took leadership positions within my clubs and activities. I believe that my level of maturity has grown and evolved since the beginning of the year, and I am better at communicating with my peers and more organized in getting things done. My plans for the future have generally stayed the same, as I plan to follow my course of study in international relations, and study abroad next Spring, but I have more plans and are more organized in how I will reach these goals.
I plan to extend my Global Awareness by studying abroad next spring in Barcelona. It was always something I wanted to do, but I was not sure if I would be able to accomplish it. After going to all of my advisors and planning the rest of my semesters, I decided that it would be possible and I already have picked my ISA program to go abroad. By doing so I will increase my Global Awareness because I will learn more about other cultures, immerse myself in new things, and learn to empathize with other people.
As I continue on my path, and course continue to get more intricate, I have had practice this year in research and reporting. I volunteered at the The Legal Aid Society of Columbus and helped report on specific cases that would help veterans receive better discharge statuses. Additionally, I am scheduling my reading and research upper-level classes that will make me invest more time and effort into learning the research process.
My Academic Achievements already listed are through hardworking and dedication to my courses because of my plans to attend Graduate School after graduation. My Leadership Development comes from my position of President of Delta Gamma Fraternity. It takes up a lot of time and dedication to my whole chapter, but it is very rewarding to helping out in sisterhoods, our philanthropy, and communicating with our Executive Offices.
One focus I really want to improve on is my service engagement. Because of work load and my other specific attentions to my sorority and other projects, I do not volunteer as much as I wish I could. Next year, I am really planning on finding an organization that could help me do more within our community.
