G.O.A.L.S.

My appreciation for diversity stems from my own culture. My mother was born in the Philippines and raised there until she moved to the United States. I have always been fascinated and appreciative of my own culture and other cultures around the world. I love to travel and understand cultures other than my own. I have been to Mexico, Dominican Republic, England, Puerto Rico, etc. And this summer I will be traveling to the Philippines. As a history major, I love to explore different cultures and their history in their own perspective. I like to learn about other parts of the world from the Mongol Empire to the Archaic Greeks. I am looking to have a historical specialization on East Asian Studies. I can’t wait to study abroad. I plan to do so my junior year. I want to study abroad in Barcelona and from there experience all of Europe. I hope to develop a larger global perspective through my whole college experience.

I plan to minor in International Studies, or even double major. I also hope to minor in Spanish. I chose to be a history major because I love learning about the world and how history shows everything about our world from what we look like to what we eat. This ties in with International Studies; I hope to learn as much about the world and other cultures as I can. My future aspirations include studying abroad and most importantly getting into the Washington Academic Internship Program. I would love to work in Washington and I am looking at minoring in Political Science, too. My end goal would be becoming a foreign service worker. My curriculum will prepare me for this because I will understand other cultures.

I am involved in field hockey club and am looking to join other clubs like USG. I am also going to join a sorority and take on leadership positions within. In high school, I was President of the National Honorary Society and a student government representative. I was also the captain of my field hockey team. These positions have prepared my for leadership roles and I would describe my leadership style as independent and steady.

I hope to be a part of many service opportunities over my college years. I am very fond of community service and have had a lot of experience. As of now, I have been unable to be apart of service projects, but I plan on being involved in later years.
