Background Info

  1. What are your career goals?
Landscaping has been a life long passion for me which is why I chose it as my career. I owned and operated a landscaping business when I was in high school but I sold the business in order to attend the Ohio State University. A future goal of mine is to eventually start up another landscaping company but I know there is going to be a lot of hard work before that. I don’t have the money to start one up right away so I plan on working for a landscaping company once I graduate. The company I am going to work for is Hidden Creek Landscaping in Columbus. I will be starting off as a foreman but while I am working for this company I plan on moving up into supervisor positions.
  2. What do you consider to be your most important ACADEMIC accomplishment?
My most important academic accomplishment would have to be how much I have matured as a student throughout my 4 years of college. School taught me the importance of properly managing my time which allows me to do well in school while still having fun.
  3. What do you consider to be your most important WORK accomplishment?
My most important work accomplishment would have to be the ability to problem solve. Every day on the job issues arise and as someone in charge I am the person who has to come up with the solution. It can be very stressful at times but it is also very gratifying when I can fix the problem. The other benefit of that is the crew respects you more as a leader when they know they can rely on you.
  4. What do you like to do in your free time?
If I have any free time which doesn’t happen often but when it does I love being outside. Growing up I use to always play outside especially in the woods. This got me into hunting at a young age which is still one of my favorite parts about winter. Also when the weather is cold I love to go out and snowboard. I usually go to Mad River but I also enjoy snowboarding at out of state resorts that are a lot nicer. In the summer time I spend most of my free time riding motorcycles or out four wheeling some trails.
  5. Is there something about your family or where you grew up that influenced your career interests? If not, how did you decide on your current major?
Neither of my parents have jobs that involve anything around horticulture. With that being said, both of them are big horticulture enthusiasts. I always enjoyed being outside as a kid so when my dad was out working in the yard I was right there with him trying to help. It was usually hard work but I liked seeing the finished result. We moved a couple of times when I was growing up but wherever we lived my family made sure to make the landscape amazing.
