LaViN Project

The LaViN Project

The LaViN Project: Language in the Historical Archive of To Vima and Ta Nea is carried out under the auspices and co-funding of the Laboratory for the Study of the Greek Language and the Miltiadis Marinakis Endowed Chair of Modern Greek Studies at The Ohio State University. The project is a collaboration between the Laboratory’s Director, Professor Brian D. Joseph, and Postdoctoral Researcher Dr. Michail I. Marinis. It focuses on the investigation of language change in Greek over the past century, as reflected in the press. A key research question examines the linguistic characteristics of newspaper headlines and whether stylistic or structural differences emerge between Greek and English versions.

To date, The LaViN Project has resulted in 8 presentations and 4 research papers.
