Uganda Research

In Uganda, we use Pseudocrenilabrus multicolor, a well-studied African cichlid, to understand whether divergent traits confer fitness advantages. P. multicolor is found in sites that vary dramatically in environmental extremes (e.g. average oxygen concentration and turbidity measurements), and rearing experiments have demonstrated the effect of dissolved oxygen and turbidity on traits such as visual acuity, reproductive behaviors, life history traits, and male coloration.
