Sophomore Year (20116-2017)

My second semester of my sophomore year I became an ambassador for the College of Engineering. In this role I am able to give tours to incoming students and network with alumni. As an ambassador we are representatives of the college and the university as a whole and we need to be role model students, leaders and employees. This semester through our ambassador sponsor, Marathon, I participated in two different professional development sessions. The first session was about networking with professionals and the second session was about conflict resolution within project groups and the workforce. In the first session, I gained knowledge that gave me confidence to reach out to current professionals and let my name be known. Professionals went through college just like me and it is important to reach out and ask questions to make yourself known. The second session on conflict resolution was applicable to project groups I am in now in classes and in my future career. The six steps of conflict resolution were discussed. I learned how to make “you” statements into “I” statements for more constructive and positive conversation thus leading to a positive compromise. These workshops allowed me to meet with current engineers in the field, grow my confidence and talk about topics that I can use in my future career.

Year in Review

[ “Year in Review”  is where you should reflect on the past year and show how you have evolved as a person and as a student.  You may want to focus on your growth in a particular area (as a leader, scholar, researcher, etc.) or you may want to talk about your overall experience over the past year.  For more information, go to: http://honors-scholars.osu.edu/e-portfolio.
