Description

When planning for camp many professionals are faced with the same crafts from year to year. This session aims to give professionals new ideas for crafts that are enjoyable, affordable, and help foster community service. In order to understand what crafts will work for your camp, basic cost breakdowns, and difficultly level as well as directions will be given for the crafts shown.  What better to way to be ready for camp then to have all of your crafts planned? This will be a fast-moving and interactive session, so get ready for fun and crafting!

Professionals will learn about ways to craft that also are service learning. There are many needs in each community, and this section will show what kind of crafts youth could do that could be donated to shelters, animal care, or family crisis centers.

When budgets are a main concern, building a craft that is inexpensive and upcycled can be a great option! This area will focus on crafts that are made from objects that most people may throw away, or not think of when it comes to crafting such as bottle caps, pop tabs, and even old cookie sheets.

Being creative at camp does not mean that you have to make something that is just for girls! The fun of creativity is that crafts can also be more geared to male audiences also. There are a number of creative projects that could be included in camp that would be a highlight for any youth with a mind to put things together and make them work – without breaking your budget!

Creativity is an important skill to foster through camp craft activities. Looking at the activities you provide, are you happy with what you do- or is it time for a change?
