Comparison Paper of Permanence in Hinduism and Buddhism

My favorite class of my first semester of my freshman year has been Asian Philosophy. For the class, I wrote a 5-page paper analyzing and comparing the importance of permanence in Hinduism and Buddhism. This was the first paper I had to write in college, and I wanted to make it one I could be proud of. I got to choose the topic myself, and choose the concept of permanence because it intrigued me how two prominent religions could have such opposite viewpoints. I studied my notes, and wrote an argument on why Buddhism’s perception of permanence in life is superior. After reflecting on the assignment, I realized I learned so much about Buddhism, Hinduism, and philosophical theory in general. I had a great deal of fun researching and critically analyzing philosophical theories. I have been looking more into adding a philosophy minor to my college career because discussing philosophy is something I have a newfound passion for, and writing the argumentative paper helped me discover that. About Me

I was born and raised in the small town of Charenton, Louisiana with my mom, dad, and little sister. I always had a passion for learning even when my peers didn’t share my interests. Growing up, I had very little concept of the world beyond my small town. My horizons were instantly broadened when I moved away to boarding school in Natchitoches, Louisiana for my 10th through 12th grade years of high school. I took the leap to pursue a better education than what was available in my home town. There I lived and learned with 300 like-minded students who I felt connected to because of our common passion for learning and bettering ourselves.

I have always felt most comfortable in the sciences, and I combined my passions for learning with improving the lives of others and decided I am destined to be an engineering major. My goal in life is to improve others’ lives through contributions I have made. I worked hard in high school to learn as much as possible to attend a high-ranking engineering college. I am so privileged to attend The Ohio State University’s College of Engineering to study electrical engineering.
