About Me

Hello. My name is Julia Goggins, and the following post will be an attempt to let the rest of you know who I am in around 1 minute of reading time while not boring you to death. I was born on December 30, 1997. I’m assuming you’ve now done the math, but yes I am ridiculously young and am still 17 for the time being. I grew up for the most part in Shorewood, Illinois, which is just about an hour south of Chicago. I have two younger sisters, a sophomore in high school and a fifth grader. I love to stay active: volleyball is my favorite sport to play (recreationally), but I ran track and cross country throughout junior high and high school. As much as I love being active, I can also be a book worm and a music nerd. I love reading and used to play the flute in band, but now I play the piano on my own time. I was always the person who joined every club and was over involved, so I am definitely looking forward to joining a few clubs/organizations on campus–studies of course coming first. That being said, I am still ready to have a good time and enjoy the college experience (beginning with the football games I bought a season pass to.)

My studies are geared towards a major in chemical engineering, a career path I chose based on my love for math and science, specifically chemistry. I am in Humanitarian Engineering Scholars, as I felt it would allow my love of volunteering and service to be prevalent in my time here and to merge with my course studies. I am very excited to be a part of this scholars program and ready to serve the community and grow as a student through all of the opportunities provided to us. My goal for the time I will spend at Ohio State is to find a fire and a passion in the field of work I’m choosing to pursue, and to find a way I can use it to change our world for the better.
