I am from Urbana, Ohio.  I grew up ion a small corn and soybean operation.  My family also had a 4,000 plant raspberry farm for around five years.  During my time here at Ohio State, I have enjoyed traveling to Nicaragua and Brazil.  Following graduation I will be moving to Independence, IA working for Monsanto as a District Sales Manager Trainee.

Why I decided to pursue Global Options

I chose to pursue Global Options because I realized the importance of gaining a global perspective during my time here at Ohio State.  After living with a host family in the coffee farming mountains of Nicaragua, I realized the importance of learning from and respecting cultures from around the world.  While spending six week in Brazil, one of the worlds greatest agricultural powerhouses, I was able to see first-hand the differences in production in Brazil and the United States.

Coming into senior year, I reflected on the experiences that I have been blessed with abroad.  Not only have they been an opportunity for extreme personal growth, but they have also given me a very interesting perspective that stands out in any interview.  These experiences were life-changing and I chose to pursue Global Options in-order to make the most of my experiences abroad.

My Goal for Global Options

My goal for global options is simple: create a plan and strategy to become a global leader in agriculture.  Working for a company like Monsanto, who has facilities in 69 countries, it is important to not only see things from the perspective of an American agriculturalist, but also from the perspective of a global agriculturalist.

Through Global Options, I hope to find ways to apply my experiences to my position with Monsanto.  In addition, I hope to further understand global cultures and set myself up for successful influence in world agriculture.  It will be essential that I am intentional in thought to set goals as to how I will continue to be a globally involved citizen.
