Who are we?

The Graduate Music Student Association (GMSA) serves all graduate students enrolled in the School of Music at The Ohio State University. We are made up of elected board members, various focus committees, and the graduate music student body at large.

The GMSA Board — which includes the President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, and Social Chair — meets regularly as a representative body…

• to facilitate communication between the graduate student population and faculty;
• to provide a forum for the presentation of research, compositions, performances, guest lectures, and academic/non-academic issues affecting graduate students; and
• to sponsor social events to encourage a strong social support system and networking opportunities for graduate music students.

The theme of the Autumn 2020 semester is Adapt — and GMSA is in the process of adapting to a student body that is increasingly interested in being more involved in School of Music matters, exceptionally career-driven (both within and outside of academia), and facing ordinary graduate student obstacles in extraordinary circumstances.
