About Me

My name is Giavonna Globokar and I am currently in my first year as a directly admitted student at the Max M. Fisher College of Business at The Ohio State University. In addition to less than 60 other Fisher Freshmen, I am in the experiential learning cohort of Business Scholars. I am pursuing an education specializing in International Business. This is largely due to my involvement in Jackson Academy of Global Studies and Jackson School for the Arts in my high school career. Through these, I have gained values of global competency and exploring other cultures. For this reason, I plan to continue my study of the languages French and Spanish and potentially more. As of now, I speak proficient French and basic Spanish but intend to continue studying until fluency in both. My other involvements in high school include numerous leadership positions including but not limited to National Honor Society Treasurer, Student Head Leader of Jackson Academy of Global Studies, Dance Team Captain, Class President, and Captain of Speech and Debate. Throughout these various roles, I gained integral leadership skills ranging from delegating responsibilities and team building to facilitating purchase orders and keeping financial books for my organizations. I have also gained social media and marketing skills that proved necessary in order to boost my fundraising efforts. In the case of Jackson Academy for Global Studies, I even raised over $15,000 to be allocated to the student travel funds and allow for more students to experience educational travel. For the social media platforms that I managed, I also utilized photography, videography, editing, and graphic design skills. These I developed from my 4-year Vice Presidency of our school’s Film Club. Further, I am the Co-Owner of a Film and Videography Business where I profited off of these skills through multiple weddings, graduations, and community event jobs. Finally, I have renowned public speaking skills as a National Semi-Finalist and State-Finalist in Speech and Debate. Above is my picture from this activity that was posted around my town after I received 3rd place in the State for Duo Interpretation alongside my partner. With these skills, I find it easy to be on a team, lead a meeting, communicate ideas, investigate the world, delegate responsibility, and more. I am confident in the skills I bring to any table and know that I can provide an open-minded and creative perspective to each project. My goals for my time at The Ohio State University include pursuing a globally minded path of International Business and minors in French and Spanish. I intend to study abroad and hopefully intern for a global corporation. It would be very special to me to be able to use my second and third languages in a professional environment.
