We are creating and evaluating the intercultural learning modules we created for Turkish culture classes at Ohio State. Dr. Danielle V. Schoon presents our evaluation project to assess the intercultural learning of students in her Turkish culture courses in the video below. She gives an overview of the types of assignments she uses and the ways in which these types of assignments can put the learning into the students’ hands. There are three key elements:
Assessment and instruction overlap in many cases, especially in terms of the Intercultural Development Inventory (IDI). Dr. Cindy Jiang reviews the results of each student’s IDI with them one-on-one which students tell us they find valuable for their personal development.
