G.O.A.L.S.

During my time at Ohio State, it will be important for me, as a member of the Honors and Scholars Community, to do my part regarding in promoting the ideas behind G.O.A.L.S. As a part of this, I must also focus on more fully expanding upon the virtues of the GOALS system within my own life, both as a student as a member of the community. Given this, its important that I consider how my life over the next four years will more fully embody the principles these tenants set forth.

During my time as a student, I plan to fully immerse myself in terms of my academics, and I hope that I will be able to combine my academic pursuits with other important facets of the GOALS through involvement, both in terms of service and in clubs. Given my interest in Italian and international affairs, I hope to be able to combine these interests to help achieve the opportunities set forth in the GOALS. In specific, my goal is to graduate fully fluent in Italian, and use my time here at Ohio State to pursue research into the current political situation in Italy regarding the ongoing migrant crisis. In this, I hope to both further my own knowledge of the language and also research a topic which combines my interests. Beyond this, in the realms of leadership and service, I hope that my time pursuing this research, along with my participation in numerous global political clubs, will help men to provide insightful and helpful suggestions to our community and national leaders, to help address ongoing local and international struggles and conflicts regarding the growing presence of immigrants and migrants around the globe. I hope that this research and involvement will not only help me to attain a better understanding of my community and the world as a whole, but also create positive change regarding an arena of politics and life which becomes increasingly contentious with each passing day. While I may not be able to make the final policy decisions, I hope that my role as a student and a researcher will help top pioneer productive thought and bring about more positive, humanitarian change, both on campus and around the world.
