Mitali and Abby graduated from OSU in 2022 with Bachelors of Public Health. Mitali is now in medical school at the University of Miami in Florida and plans to work in maternal-child health and with under-served populations. Abby specialized in sociology with a focus on maternal-child health and minored in education. Abby hopes to join the field of health behavior and health promotion. Fun Facts: Mitali is a big fan of horror movies and loves playing the flute! Abby is a first-generation college graduate and loves plants!

Monicah Karera | Student Research Assistant

Monicah graduated from OSU in 2022 with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and Honors Research Distinction. Monicah was born and raised in Kenya and moved to the United States in 2014. Monicah is passionate about the prevention of miscarriage and preterm birth, with a goal of becoming a certified nurse midwife. Fun Facts: Monicah loves playing volleyball, watching movies, singing, and traveling.

Katie Kretz, RN | Student Research Assistant

Katie graduated from OSU in 2021 with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and Honors Research Distinction. Katie is currently working as a registered nurse at the Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center and will begin graduate school at the Ohio State University College of Nursing in 2022! Fun Facts: Katie loves to go rock climbing and has completed two half marathons.

Margo Bush | Student Research Assistant

Margo graduated from OSU in 2021 with a Bachelor in Biochemistry, Minor in Global Public Health, and Research Distinction. Margo is now in medical school at the University of Toledo. She plans to focus her career on maternal-child health. Fun Facts: Margo loves to go fishing and her favorite food is rainbow sprinkles.

Jelissa Neal, MPH | Student Research Assistant

Jelissa graduated from OSU in 2019 with a Master’s in Public Health. Her passion for research, working with under-served populations, and maternal-child health made the Gillespie Laboratory a perfect fit during her time as a graduate student. Jelissa is now a Midwifery/Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner student at Yale University. Fun Facts: Jelissa is a lover of cats and bad reality television.
