The Translational Psychoneuroimmunology Laboratory (TPL) was launched in 2017 by Dr. Shannon L. Gillespie, PhD, RN, a clinical and translational nurse scientist. The laboratory is one of several maternal-infant research laboratories housed in the Martha S. Pitzer Center for Women, Children and Youth at the Ohio State University College of Nursing and operates in conjunction with the Ohio State University College of Nursing Translational Biosciences Laboratory.

Vision: The TPL is a leader in translational psychoneuroimmunology, with special emphasis on maternal-infant health. In other words, the TPL leads studies focused on identifying and addressing the sociopsychological determinants of health. 

Mission: The TPL aims to improve health and transform lives by leveraging psychoneuroimmunologic knowledge to design and test of innovative approaches to healthcare, with special emphasis on prenatal and postpartum populations. In other words, the TPL discovers and tests new ways to provide exceptional healthcare to expectant and new mothers and their infants.
